The Multi-Cultural Student Union and Zeta Phi Beta hosted a Stop Light Party on Oct. 15.
Held in the Hoosier Room, DJ DCeezy provided music for students.
Participants wore red, yellow or green beads to indicate their relationship status.
Red meant you were in a relationship, yellow meant your relationship was complicated and green meant you were single.
The party was seen as a way for students to participate and enjoy the campus.
It also received a strong turnout from students.
“We want people to come out and meet others and come together on campus,” Ronnie Vincent, president of the MSU and criminal justice senior, said.
The MSU plans events encompassing educational and social events.
“We offer diversity and educational forums for students and anyone interested,” Angela Calbert, business sophomore and MSU treasurer, said.
Money for the tickets to the Stop Light Party went toward the MSU and Zeta Phi Beta programs and events.
MSU participates in the House of Ruth organization, which is a nonprofit organization that offers support to families and individuals affected by HIV/AIDS.
Laureka Robinson, secretary of the MSU and biology sophomore, said the union also participates in food drives and Santa’s Workshop.
A Halloween party is in the planning phase for the MSU coming this month.
Students are also invited to the MSU pumpkin-painting event for children taking place at the IUS Children’s Center on Oct. 27 in celebration of the arrival of the fall
season.
