"Sapere aude" is a Latin phrase which means "dare to discern" or dare to know. It means to be enlightened, learn things and to make decisions based on rational knowledge. Marty Rosen, director of Library Services, said he is a strong believer in this. Rosen’s career paths reflect this Latin phrase. As a writer for the Courier Journal and his position at IU Southeast, Rosen said he learns things on a daily basis.

Proposed licensing rules could affect education students

Indiana’s Professional Standards Advisory Board has proposed a new set of licensing rules that could potentially affect IUS education students. The proposed Rules for Educator Preparation and Accountability, REPA, would require Indiana colleges to focus on giving their education students more content, rather than methods classes that teach future educators how to teach.

Freshman basketball player well rounded on, off court

His athletic ability is shared with his father, who Mitchell considers to be the biggest influence on his life. His father played basketball for the University of Louisville and the University of California, Berkeley. When he isn’t participating in sports, Mitchell is a home-body. A self-proclaimed "momma’s boy," Mitchell likes be around his family and go to church with them.

IUS sophomore enjoys her time as a Grenadier

When Megan Murphy, psychology sophomore and forward for the women’s basketball team, set foot on the IUS campus she knew she had found the place she wanted to spend her next four years. Murphy is from Bloomington and is further from her hometown than any other player on the IUS women’s basketball team. "I liked the campus and how it was a smaller school setting," Murphy said.

Recently, there have been talks about expanding the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament field from 65 to either 68 or 96 teams. This is a bad idea.
