Patrick Fawcett, Registrar, has been working at IU Southeast for six months. He has worked in higher education since 1996. Fawcett said he missed the four-year environment and wanted to be part of a campus culture again, so he left his previous job of nine years with Ivy Tech. When the position became available, he applied for the job at IU Southeast.

Student finds focus in music

When starting college, some students struggle with declaring majors due to the variety of opportunities offered to them and concerns about choosing the right degrees. However, for Benjamin Johnson, music junior, he said he had a rough start when he first came to college and was unable to focus due to having Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. “I was failing my classes,” Johnson said. “I didn’t know what I would do with a music degree.”

Student pursues music, dream

For Peter Felice, music composition senior, music has always been a passion, but the life of a student worker eventually got the best of him. Felice began as a student at the University of Louisville as a music education major. He said he was struggling with his schoolwork and started to focus heavily on his job at Six Flags. Little by little, Felice began to drop out of University of Louisville until he eventually dropped out completely because he said he was heavily depressed about how far behind he had gotten.

Performance student dreams big

Erin Carlisle, music performance senior, is an IUS enthusiast and is involved with many organizations on campus. Carlisle is from Indianapolis, and when she had to choose between multiple colleges, IU Southeast won her vote. Coming from a big city, Carlisle said she wanted a change. “I love the campus and the location,” Carlisle said. “It’s so close to Louisville. You get the best of both worlds.”
