From teaching photojournalism reporting at IU Southeast to having worked at various newspapers, Moss has dedicated his life to taking pictures. Moss first became interesting in photography taking photos during his high school years.

Sociology professor uses interesting teaching methods

Sam Sloss, professor of sociology, is known for his unique teaching methods and techniques. For more than 20 years, Sloss has taught many different classes for the Department of Sociology, and he is known for teaching classes that other professors don’t usually teach. Classes Sloss has taught range from discussing Religion and Society, Games, Leisure and Play, Sociology of Humor and, this semester, he is teaching Food and Society and Issues in Evolution.

His athletic ability is shared with his father, who Mitchell considers to be the biggest influence on his life. His father played basketball for the University of Louisville and the University of California, Berkeley. When he isn’t participating in sports, Mitchell is a home-body. A self-proclaimed "momma’s boy," Mitchell likes be around his family and go to church with them.

IUS sophomore enjoys her time as a Grenadier

When Megan Murphy, psychology sophomore and forward for the women’s basketball team, set foot on the IUS campus she knew she had found the place she wanted to spend her next four years. Murphy is from Bloomington and is further from her hometown than any other player on the IUS women’s basketball team. "I liked the campus and how it was a smaller school setting," Murphy said.

Rick Bodiford, communications junior, has come a long way to be a key player on the IUS men’s basketball team. Bodiford grew up in Atlanta and moved to Louisville when he was a sophomore in high school. He said he met a coach in Georgia who told him how much bigger and more competitive basketball was in Kentucky.

Every superhero is a leader and needs a good sidekick. Michael Atkinson, political science senior, has a Slinky as his sidekick. Atkinson is easy to recognize on campus because he always has a Slinky. He began playing with a Slinky when homeschooled. He’s been homeschooled since the first grade and just brought the Slinky with him to college.
