Dear Horizon,
I observed in one of your previous issues that the paper decided to cease printing the “Illustrated Bible” on the Diversions page. I am begging The Horizon to reinstate the section because I am offended as a Christian.
I always looked forward to reading the verse when I read the comics and was proud of the fact that my student newspaper printed excerpts from the Bible. This action has disappointed me deeply.
I cannot believe just because a few atheists wrote complaining letters the newspaper gave the Bible the ax.
Other people may be offended when they see the Bible verses, but I am offended because I won’t see that little box at the bottom of the page proclaiming the word.
If The Horizon started printing “The Illustrated Koran,” no one would dare say they are offended for fear of seeming
prejudice, but is it all right to ax the Bible just because it is a Christian book of faith?
Once again, I am begging The Horizon to print the “Illustrated Bible.” I am offended that I, as a Christian, cannot enjoy the wonders of the “Illustrated Bible” because someone is offended by that which is near and dear to my heart.
